Peggy Brown Blackmon

Peggy Brown Blackmon, 84, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.  A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 5th in the Belk Funeral Home Chapel in Darlington at 11:00am.  With internment following at Grove Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive visitors at 629 Rio Drive.

Peggy was born on August 9th, 1940 in Darlington to the late Sarah Mixon Oates and Woodrow Wilson Brown.  She went to work at an early age, and eventually retired from Dixie Cup.  Peggy met the love of her life Billy Blackmon, married, and started a family together.

She leaves behind her daughter "Pat" (Pete) Gainey of Darlington, daughter Lisa (Michael) Cook of Darlington, and son Robert Blackmon of Hartsville.  Her ten grandchildren, and many, many, great grandchildren.  Her siblings: Buddy (Motie) Brown of Darlington, Donnie Brown, Bill Brown, Betty Bryant of Darlington, Darlene Richie of Darlington, and Sue St. Armar of Columbia.

Preceding her in death are her husband Billy, her parents, along with her children: James Michael Blackmon, Billy Blackmon, and Eva Jean Humphries.  Her siblings: Jeanette Rhodes, Linda Stewart, Frances Cox, and John Brown.  Also her grandson Tommy Gainey. Peggy will be missed dearly by those that knew her.
