On May 22, 2025, after 102 years on this earth Myrtle W. Weatherford has gone home to the Lord. A visitation in her honor will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Mechanicsville Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m., with interment immediately afterward at The Mechanicsville Baptist Church Cemetery. All arrangements are being handled by Belk Funeral Home.
Myrtle was born on July 8, 1922, in Darlington County and she was a dedicated employee of Dixie Cup and retired after 34 years. She was the oldest member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church and known as the pro-tem mayor of Mechanicsville. Her hobbies included working in the yard and sitting on the back porch and baking lemon pound cakes. Myrtle and her daughter Connie were incredibly supportive with their volunteering and cooking for the Black Creek Coon Hunters Club and Mechanicsville Fire Department.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Everette C. Weatherford, Sr. her son Everette C. Weatherford, Jr., and her daughter Connie M. Galliher. She was also preceded in death by her parents William Odie Warr and Marie Blackmon Warr Creeden and siblings Rivers Warr, Gertrude Warr Dodson, William "Pete" Warr, Marion "Tommy" Warr, sister-in-law Helen Warr and daughters-in-law Shirley Weatherford and Glenda P. Weatherford.
Surviving is her son James "JL" Weatherford, grandchildren; Charles (Esperanza) Weatherford, Timmy Weatherford, Tracy Weatherford, Christopher (Renee) Galliher and Kelvin (Amy) Weatherford: great grandchildren; Steven, Thomas, Kaleb, Laken, and Clayton: great-great grandchildren; Violet, Elena, Evie, Ellie, and Archer.
