Monika C. Amerson, age 69, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017. A memorial service will be held 7:30 PM on Thursday, June 22nd in the Lamar chapel at Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Born July 3, 1947, Monika is the daughter of the late James H. and Charlotte B. Coffey. Surviving are her children, Scott Albert (Nancy) Amerson, and Chris James (Tamara) Amerson, both of Lamar; her grandchildren, Matthew Scott Amerson, Joshua Wesley Amerson, Hannah Deree Amerson, Tristan A. (William) Freeman, Sommer Nicole Amerson, and Cody James Amerson. Also surviving is her sister, Nena C. Dozier; a niece, Ashley E. Dozier, and a nephew, Johnny A. Dozier III. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Sam" Marion Amerson.
