Missy Atkinson

Melissa "Missy" Atkinson passed away suddenly and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 8, 2025. She was 58 years old.  A visitation will be held for her on Monday, June 16th, 2025 from 2 to 3 at Belk Funeral Home and then a funeral service will follow at 3pm in the Belk Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be at 1009 Coggeshall Road in Darlington.

Born on August 22, 1966, in Florence, South Carolina, Missy was the daughter of the late Robert and Shirley Atkinson. One of six children, she grew up in a close-knit, loving family. Missy had a warm and welcoming spirit—she never met a stranger. She cherished simple joys: sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee, spending time with her grandchildren, and being surrounded by family.

Missy is survived by her daughter, Chasity (Lee) Suggs of Darlington, and her son, Cori Atkinson of Hartsville. Her grandchildren: Gracie Suggs, Lee Suggs III, and Rowyn Suggs. She also leaves behind her siblings: Teresa (Buck) Sanders of Timmonsville, Tonya (Gene) Ham of Darlington, Shasta (Lee) Grant of Hartsville, Shane (Tonya) Atkinson of Darlington; her sister-in-law, Linda Atkinson; and many beloved nieces: Kasey, Kerri, and Meagan, nephews: Jacob and Zach, with great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robbie Atkinson.
