Michael Vernon Andrews

Michael "Mike" Vernon Andrews, age 69, died Friday, April 26 at MUSC-Florence. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Darlington at 4:00pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. The family will receive friends at Belk Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening, and other times at the home. Born in Darlington on October 28, 1949, he was the son of the late Orin Andrews and Macie Sims Andrews Witherspoon. Mr. Andrews served in the United States Navy from 1969 -1974. He then went to work at NUCOR, retiring in 2012 after 38 years of employment. Mike enjoyed playing softball and golf and was an avid fan of the Lady Falcons softball team, especially when his nieces Gracie and Madie were playing. Mr. Andrews was a member of Darlington First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Karen Patterson Andrews and their son, Ryan Andrews, both of Darlington, and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Andrews. Also, he will be remembered as the "fun uncle" by his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Andrews and his sister, Diane Andrews.
