Florence

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Max John Parker, who left this world on January 21, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on April 23, 1954, in Okinawa, Japan, Max was a cherished son, brother, father, and grandfather, whose intelligence touched the lives of many. Max spent his early years in Okinawa before eventually calling Florence, South Carolina, his home. He proudly served his country in the Navy, embodying the dedication and bravery that defined his character. After his military service, he transitioned into a fulfilling career as an IT Specialist at Blue Cross/Blue Shield, where he made significant contributions until his retirement. He leaves behind his beloved son, Anthony (Stephanie) Parker, and his daughter, Celeste Parker. Max was also a treasured grandfather to his granddaughter, Marlee Parker, who brought him immense joy. He is survived by his brothers, Troy and Glen Parker. Belk Funeral Home will be serving this family during this difficult time. Max’s ashes will be interred at Florence National Cemetery along with his late wife Laura. Max Parker will be missed dearly but remembered fondly. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Max was preceded in death by his lovely wife Laura Carey-Parker, and his parents Mitsuko Parker and Cecil Parker, and sister Victoria Tardo.
