Mary Beth Blackman Tyson, age 68, died Friday, July 14th at a local hospital. A Celebration of her life will take place at 5:00 Monday, July 17 at Darlington Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 Monday in the church fellowship hall, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born in Darlington on October 15, 1949, she is the daughter of the late Robert Noah "Bubba" Blackman, Sr. and the late Mary Beth Benton Blackman. For over 25 years, Beth was a scrap coordinator at NUCOR Steel in Darlington. She loved working in her yards, watching boxing and football, and spending time with her son. She will be remembered as a lady with a giving heart who always enjoyed cooking and baking, and then giving away her baked goods, especially during the holiday season.
She is survived by her son, Noah Tyson and his fiancé, Gretchen McInville of Darlington; a sister, Louigene (Kenny) Hodges of Lamar; a nephew, Jonathan Benton Carter, a great-niece, Elizabeth Carter, and her faithful canine companion, Yoda.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Noah Blackman, Jr.
