Mary Ann Greene

Mary Ann Lyon Greene, 71, of Darlington, passed away on January 7, 2017 after a brave fight with colon cancer. She was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, to Addison Brose and Tessie Agnes Lyon on July 17, 1945. She went to high school at Blacksburg High School in Blacksburg, Virginia. She then attended Radford College and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, both in Virginia. She worked for Francis Marion University for 20 years retiring in 2007. She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching, cooking, and being with her two daughters. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, AB and Agnes. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Greene, her daughter Nichole Greene, her nephews Frank Lyon Jr. and David (Debbie) Lyon, her nieces Katherine (Jim) Luft and Rebecca Jernigan, several great nieces and great nephews, her five dogs Jack, Beamer, Louis, Sadie, and Lily, and a brother Frank (Sarah) Lyon Sr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Darlington County Humane Society, 1701 Animal Control Blvd, Darlington, SC 29532. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the McLeod Regional Medical Center for their support during her battle with colon cancer. The family will receive visitors in the home, 110 Gann Drive. A private funeral service will be held in Parsons, West Virginia. Belk Funeral Home is handling all the arrangements.
