Marta Parnell Lloyd

Mrs. Martha "Marta" Parnell Lloyd, age 68, died suddenly Sunday, May 14, 2017 at her home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Belk Funeral Home in Lamar from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Lamar United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Lamar Memorial Cemetery, directed By Belk Funeral Home, Lamar. Mrs. Lloyd was born June 25, 1948 in Lamar, the daughter of the late Lavelle and Beatrice Shockley Parnell. She was the proprietor of Lavelle's Grocery, her father's store, for many years where many friends became family to her. After being a homemaker and stay-at-home mom, she became employed by the Lamar Elementary/High School Cafeteria, followed by the Town of Lamar Water Department. Marta was well known for baking her delicious cakes that so many people requested for birthdays, weddings, and other occasions. She was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Mike Lloyd of the home, her daughters Michelle Lloyd and Angela Lloyd both of Lamar, and a beloved granddaughter, Blake Lloyd of Lamar; also her sister, Pammie Bell of Lamar; nephews Ryan (Heather) Bell of Florence; Kevin (Kacey) Bell of Florence; brother-in-law, Bo (Frances) Lloyd; nieces Pammie (Tony) Windham, and Lisa (Brad) Jordan; beloved uncle, George Shockley of Washington, and a host of cousins and others that were dear to her heart.
