Marion "Russell" Galloway, 81, of Lamar, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on January 16, 2025. He was born on July 11, 1943, in Lamar, to Judge Galloway and Rita Hudson Galloway.
Russell led a life filled with warmth and kindness, never meeting a stranger. He worked for many years in the shipping department at Dixie Cup before retiring. His years of dedication to his work were matched by his love for family and friends.
He was married to Anna Atkinson Galloway, and together they shared a deep bond, including many enjoyable travels in their camper. Russell had a lifelong passion for fishing, spending countless hours by the water, enjoying the peace it brought.
Russell is survived by his devoted wife, Anna Galloway; son Randy (Anne) Galloway of Lamar; daughter Renee Smith; grandchildren Rusty Machon and Luranna and Rock Parnell; and great-granddaughter Olivia Parnell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly. He was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Lewis, Betty Bell, and Barbara Galloway.
A visitation will be held at Christian Pathway on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 1 to 2 pm, located at 905 Hibiscus Road in Lamar, SC. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm, with interment at Lamar Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Russell's honor to Christian Pathway, PO Box 757, Lamar, SC 29069.
Russell will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, love, and joy will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
