Marilyn Privette

Marilyn Lewis Privette, age 88, of Latta passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Latta Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Darlington at 4 p.m., directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Marilyn was born in Horry County on November 13, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Ovie Williamson Lewis. She was a faithful member of Black Creek Baptist Church in Dovesville for many years, then a member of Latta Baptist Church after moving to Latta in 2013. She especially enjoyed her Sunday school class and attending Wednesday night prayer meetings. Even after moving to Latta, she loved having monthly lunch outings with her friends from Black Creek Baptist Church. She retired from McLeod Health and Galey and Lord. Marilyn enjoyed gardening, reading books, and spending time with her friends and family.

Surviving is her daughter Tracy Privette George and son-in-law Ray George of Latta, as well as her grandchildren, Lydia and Harris George. She is also survived by her sisters, Genese Snider and Carolyn McCormick, both of Darlington. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Donald; her brothers, Roy Lewis, Ernest Lewis, and Edward Lewis; and her sisters, Velma Hilburn, Essie Smith, and Viola Tadlock.
