Lonnie A. Ray, Sr.

Lonnie Alford Ray, Sr. age 76, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home in Lamar with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Lonnie was born in Darlington County on June 10, 1946. He is the son of the late James Woodrow and Cleo Bell Ray. Mr. Ray served the United States of America in the Army from 1966 to 1968 in the Vietnam War. Lonnie worked as a carpenter in the construction industry for many years. He loved animals and enjoyed breeding and selling dogs. Mr. Ray loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren. He always looked forward to having lunch with his sons. He had a passion to help anyone that he possibly could.

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Linda Gail Ray, children; Pete (Liz) Ray of Hartsville, Darrell (Robin) Ray of Lamar, Karen Hanna of Lamar, grandchildren: Kristen (Angel), Keri (Cable), Katlyn, Amber, Alyssa, Alli, great-grandchildren: Annalynn, Barrett, Mia, Ava, Kehlani, sisters, Katherine H. (Jim) Gause of Lamar, Jean Transue of Easton, PA and numerous friends.

In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his brother, Woody and sister, Ruby.
