Lois Estelle Hudson

Lois Estelle Hudson, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Black Creek Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Darlington Memory Gardens. Belk Funeral Home is serving the family.

Lois Estelle was born on November 20, 1932, to Alvin Folsom and Cassandra "Cassie" Griggs Odom Folsom in the Oates Community. A true people person, she worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell and later as a sales associate at B.C. Moore’s, where her friendly nature and warm smile were well known.

She was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church and served the Lord in the choir, discipleship training, Vacation Bible School, WMU and many other areas.

She loved shopping, clipping coupons, and finding a good deal. Lois Estelle enjoyed cooking for her family and could often be found in the kitchen cooking a special meal. She also enjoyed writing poetry and relaxing with a good hot cup of coffee.

She is survived by her daughter, Myra Boykin; son, Darryl (Barbara) Hudson; grandchildren Justin (Monica Sheppard) Boykin, Patrick (Valerie Rensky) Boykin, Courtney Boykin, Lindsay (Christian) Rush, Caleb Hudson, Rachel (Jerrid) Jepma and Noah (Hannah) Hudson; and great-grandchildren Peyton, Melanie, Tucker, Tanner, and Lunabelle.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Hazel “Alan” Hudson; her parents, Alvin and Cassie Folsom; and her siblings Minnie Lee Folsom, Olin Folsom, Dorothy Gray, Mary Alice Collins, David Folsom, J.B. Folsom, Harvey Folsom, and Bernice Watford.

She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. Memorials can be made in her honor to: Black Creek Baptist Church at 137 Mont Clare Road in Darlington, SC 29540.
