Linda Sue Norwood Gainey, 74, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 26, 2025. She was born in Dade County, Florida on March 5, 1951, daughter of Cecil H. Gainey and Margaret Jacqueline Adams Gainey. Linda worked for Washington Mutual for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Moose Lodge and tending to her flowers.
Linda is survived by her brother, Mike (Susie) Gainey of Darlington, sister, Sharon (the late Bill) Haynie of Santee, nieces and nephews, Michelle G. (Donald ) Bruce and their son Noah, Parker Gainey, Rachel (Madison) Harte and their son John Ashley, Kyle Gainey; Tonja (David Cassidy) their son and daughter Brandi (Bob) Facer, Brandon (Phyllis), and her best friend and companion, Tim Martin.
Linda had son, William Lide Norwood, IV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tony Gainey
Linda's wishes were to be cremated, and no services held. Her ashes will be placed alongside her parents at Grove Hill Cemetery.
Linda will be remembered as a beautiful soul whose heart overflowed with love and generosity. She loved deeply and and was happiest when surrounded by family and her companion of twenty years. She cherished every moment spent together. Every moment spent together meant something to her, whether it was a simple family meal, a conversation on the porch, or a shared laugh. Her love for them was unconditional and could be felt in everything she did.
Linda was known for her generous heart, always giving of herself and often sharing her personal belongings just to make someone else's day a little brighter. She was never one to take, always thinking first of others and how she could brighten their day. Her kindness was effortless; it was simply who she was.
Linda's legacy will live on in the love she shared and the countless lives she made better simply by being herself. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love. Her memory will continue to bloom in the lives she made brighter with her warmth, her selflessness, and her endless love.
