Judith Cox passed away on April 22, 2025. Judith was born on September 21, 1941, in Horry County, South Carolina, to Arthur Cox and Fodie Herring.
Judith dedicated many years of her life working at Galey & Lord, where she was known for her strong work ethic and steady presence. Outside of work, she embraced creativity and joy in many forms. She had a deep love for making ceramics — her handmade pieces were cherished by many, with people often purchasing them to bring a bit of her artistry into their homes.
She also found happiness in life's simple pleasures: cooking comforting meals, baking for loved ones, and spending peaceful days at the beach, one of her favorite places.
Judith leaves behind her children Dean (Karen) Jackson of Piedmont, SC, and Candace Jackson of Little River, SC; her grandchildren Jody Jacobs of Little River, Eric Jackson of Anderson, and Tyler Jackson of Stuart, Florida. She is also survived by her brother, Ervin Cox of Dillon, and her devoted friend of over 35 years, Carl Jeffords.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents, her brothers Edward and Harley Cox; her sisters Mary Ellen Bowen and Dorothy Merrett; and her granddaughter Shannon Jackson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Temple Free Will Baptist Church in Darlington, SC, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM at the church, with interment following at Black Creek Cemetery. Belk Funeral Home will be overseeing the arrangements.
Judith will be remembered for her warmth, her creative spirit, and the deep love she held for those close to her. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. Any memorials can be made in her honor to Temple Free Will Baptist Church 1660 N. Governor Williams Hwy, Darlington, SC 29540.
