Juanita (Smith) Poole

Juanita Smith Poole, age 83 died Thursday, November 18, 2021. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20th at Lamar First Baptist Church with burial following at Lamar Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 Saturday at the church.

Born on March 19, 1938 in Central Falls, North Carolina, Juanita was the daughter of the late Burton Paul Smith and Ruby Cockman Smith. She worked as a secretary/book-keeper/ teacher's aid, for Lamar Elementary School for 50 years. She enjoyed being around the students and loved spending time with her family. Juanita was a member of Lamar First Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday school.

Surviving are her sons, Alan (Kathy) Poole, Charlie (Laura) Poole, and their father, Donald Poole; grandchildren, Reece (Brittany) Poole, Miles Poole, Josh (Stephanie) Poole, Caleb Poole, Jarrett Poole; great-grandchildren, Harper August and Oliver Poole; sisters, Maxine Scaglione and Hazel (Mike) Bowers; a special friend, Cindy Windham; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Worthie, Reid, Winston, and Wayne Smith; and a sister, Caroline Smith.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
