Joyce Cato Knight

Joyce Ellen Cato Knight, age 97, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, April 22nd at Darlington First Baptist Church with burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at Belk Funeral Home, and other times at 205 Belvin St. Darlington, SC 29532. Born October 9, 1921, Joyce is the daughter of the late Robert Cato and Allie Hicks Cato. She retired from Dixie Cup after 30 years. Joyce was a member of Darlington First Baptist Church for over 60 years. Before her move to Bethea Baptist Home, she was active in the Women's Circle at the church and was involved in mission work. She loved her children and grandchildren, and was known by many as "Granny". Her laughter will be missed by many. Surviving are her children, Johnny (Sherry) Knight, Bobby (Vicki Irick) Knight, Bill (Pat) Knight, all of Darlington, David (Janice Sisco) Knight of Florence, and Linda (Arthur) Flowers of Darlington; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Margaret Watts of Miami Springs, FL; and a brother, Pete (Betty Ruth) Cato of Pageland. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Johnnie Knight; three sisters and two brothers. The family would like to give a special thanks to Trish, Debbie, and all the staff on the Happy Hall at Bethea Baptist Home for their special care of Ms. Knight.
