Joyce Bryant Dickerson

Joyce Bryant Dickerson, age 82 of Darlington passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 15th at Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family has requested not to have any visitors at the home during this time, but thanks you for your continued thoughts and prayers. Social distancing guidelines will be followed during the service.

Born on April 30, 1938, Joyce was the daughter of the late Ruth Lloyd Hughes and Roy Bryant. Mrs. Dickerson graduated from the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 45 years until her retirement. Joyce loved being a nurse and always helping others. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She spent many weekends at her grandson's baseball games.

Surviving are her son, Julian (Kelley) Dickerson; her daughters, Cynthia Dickerson and Paula (Mark) Stokes, all of Darlington; grandsons, Rhodes (Macey) Dickerson of Hemingway and Bryant Dickerson of Darlington; her sister, Pauline Smith of Darlington; brother, Roger Bryant of Boiling Springs; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Julian Rhodes Dickerson Sr. "Sonny"; her sister, Vivien B. O'Neal and her brother, Eugene Bryant Sr.
