Joseph E. Powell

Joseph E. "J.E." Powell, age 88 died Wednesday, November 3, 2021. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6th at New Prospect Church Cemetery on Sheminally Rd. in Hannah Community, SC. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 at Belk Funeral Home.

J.E. was born on April 12, 1933; he was the son of the late Liston H. Powell and Sadie Belle Jones Powell. He retired from the South Carolina Highway Patrol and was a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association. J.E. was a member of Central Baptist Church in Darlington.

Surviving are his grandsons, Joey (Mandy) Driggers and Bobby (Cayci) Driggers; a granddaughter, Cassie (Andrew) Brown; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Robbie, Reese, Anna-Claire, and Hunter; and his sister, Sherill Tyler of Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Ard Powell; son, Jeffrey Powell; daughters, Susan McRae and Diane Driggers.
