Joseph Hudson

Joseph “Joe” F. Hudson passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025. Funeral services will be held at Friendship Methodist Church of Mars Bluff on Thursday, December 11, 2025, under the care of Belk Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately afterward.

Joe was born on February 13, 1942, in Lamar, South Carolina, to Joe Hudson and Eula Lee Huggins Hudson. A proud and dedicated serviceman, Joe built a distinguished career in the U.S. Army, from which he honorably retired. He later continued his commitment to service through his work in civil service at Fort Jackson. Joe loved his country deeply and carried that devotion throughout his life.

Outside of his professional service, Joe enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He spent many years on a bowling league, was an avid reader, and took great pride in caring for his yard. His steady presence, quiet strength, and unwavering loyalty will be remembered by all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Maxine Amerson Hudson; their children, Joseph “Joey” Hudson of Florence, Dennis Hudson of North Carolina, and Tangie (Donnie) Stegall of Lamar; and three granddaughters, Ashley (Alfredo) Johnson, Chelsea (Jonathan) Link, and Kayla Hudson. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert (Joy) Hudson of Stanley, NC, and Jerry (Jean) Hudson of Lamar; and his sisters, Carolyn (C.B.) Mathis of Summerton, SC, Helen (Roy) Sealy of Fairmount, NC, and Patsy (Thomas) Frick of Little Mountain, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Hudson and Eula Lee Huggins Hudson.

Joe’s legacy of service, love, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him.
