Jonathan James "JJ" Colon

A fearless spirit, a wild heart, and a smile that brought joy wherever he went.

Jonathan James "JJ" Colon, 15, passed away on August 1, 2026, from injuries sustained after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle with friends. Though his time here was far too short, Jonathan lived with a boldness and energy that made him unforgettable. A visitation will be held at Belk Funeral Home on Saturday, August 8 from 3:00 until 4:00. A service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home.

A rising ninth-grade student at Darlington High School, Jonathan was known for his adventurous, daredevil spirit. He loved bicycles, four-wheelers, dirt bikes, and any chance to chase the next thrill. Whether he was covered in dirt from playing hard or laughing with friends, Jonathan brought life, motion, and excitement into every moment.

Behind his tough, fearless side was a tender heart. Small children were naturally drawn to Jonathan, and he had a way of meeting them right where they were. You could often find him on the floor playing cars, being silly, or doing whatever made the moment brighter.

Jonathan will be remembered for the way he lived wide open—with courage, curiosity, and a heart full of love for the people around him. His memory will live on in every story, every laugh, and every adventure shared by those who loved him.

He is survived by his father; his mother, Jennifer Marie Boyer; his siblings, Trinity Colon, Aprill Colon, Louis Colon, William Boyer, and Emilia Colon-Cooper; his godfather, Joe Cooper, who raised Jonathan as a son; his maternal grandfather, James Boyer; his uncle, Daniel Boyer; his aunts, Shelly Boyer and Kelly Boyer; cousins Michael, Angelo, Jordan, Lexie, and Jaxson and many others, nephews, and nieces, including Ares Little and Nova Colon; and his  godmother, Nyasia Cooper. Also surviving are his 4 adopted brothers, Bass, Trinton, De’Vion and Kenny.
