Johnny Suggs, Sr.

Johnny Suggs, Sr., age 90, died Monday, January 10, 2022. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 14th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home with burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Johnny was born in Darlington on January 10, 1932, son of the late Harvey Franklin Suggs and Edna Lucille Register Suggs. He worked for Sonoco Products Company until his retirement after 45 years. He was known to be a good storyteller and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, shooting, reloading his ammo, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

Surviving are his son, Johnny (Janice) Suggs, Jr. of Darlington, grandson, Johnny (Heather) Suggs, III; granddaughters; Melissa, Jennifer, Shannon and Heather, great-grandchildren: Hannah Suggs, Zachary McKnight, Caulyer Suggs, and his "favorite" Grysen Suggs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Suggs; and his siblings, Willard F. Suggs and Louise Parnell.
