John Allen Motte passed away on December 12th, 2025. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Belk Funeral Home Chapel, in Darlington. A visitation will follow the service.

John Allen Motte was born on December 30th, 1947 in Darlington County to Leon John Motte and Juanita Lee Motte in Darlington County, South Carolina. After graduating high school, he was drafted into the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country.

In his younger years, John enjoyed working out and earned the nickname “Hercules” from friends for his strength. He spent many years as a district manager for McDonald’s before retiring from the company. Following his retirement, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of opening a pet store in Florence. Most recently, he was employed at Lowe’s.

John loved collecting guns and was well known for his humorous nature and ability to make others laugh.

He is survived by his sons, Jonathan Motte of the home, Shane (Christina) Motte, and John Causey; his daughters, Tonya Motte and Shelby (Jason) Felter; his sister, Belinda (Steve) Rabon of Cassatt; his stepdaughter, April Miller; his stepson, Donald Haakinson; and several grandchildren. Along with many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
