John Preston Lowery

John Preston Lowery, age 79, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 11th at Faith Baptist Church, 2316 Faith Rd. Hartsville, SC 29550 , with burial following at Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-2 Friday at the church. Born June 7, 1939, John is the son of the late Roachell Braxton Lowery and Ruth Norwood Lowery Hatchell. He retired from Sonoco Products Company after 35 years, and was a member of the Old Timers Club. He enjoyed going to gun shows, and getting deals at yard sales and flea markets. John was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Lynch Lowery of Hartsville; daughter, Cheri (Robert) L. Traywick of Marshville, NC; grandchildren, Mackenzie Traywick of Wingate, NC, Andrew Traywick of Chapel Hill, NC, and Alexander "Alex" Traywick of Greenville, NC; sisters, Judy Andrews of Lamar and Marie (Johnny) White of Darlington; brother, Ronnie (Sondra) Hatchell of Darlington. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Roy D. Hatchell; step-sisters, June Martin and Faye Adams; step-brothers, William "Billy" Hatchell and Marvin Hatchell.
