Mike Holloway

Johnnie Michael “Mike” Holloway, 68, passed away on September 23, 2026.

Born May 22, 1958, Mike was the son of the late Johnnie James Holloway and Edith Nell Holloway. He was born and raised in Darlington, South Carolina, and graduated from St. John’s High School in 1976, where he played football. He later attended Presbyterian College, where he continued his love for football. Mike lived in Bluffton, South Carolina, from 2000 until 2019, when he and his family made Elloree, South Carolina, their home.

Mike dedicated 35 years of his career to Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, where he served as a manager before retiring. His commitment to serving others extended far beyond his career. He was a longtime volunteer with the South Darlington Rural Fire Department, where he also served as fire chief.

Mike’s faith was an important part of his life. He was a member of Santee Bible Baptist Church and a former member and deacon of Maye River Baptist Church in Bluffton, South Carolina. At Santee Bible Baptist Church, Mike continued his spirit of service by developing the church’s security team.

Everyone who knew Mike knew of his lifelong love for the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were not simply hobbies to him; they were a part of who he was. He participated in several fishing organizations and leagues throughout the years, including Lake Murray Seniors, BFL, and Lancaster Bassmasters.

The most meaningful was the opportunity to share that love of the outdoors with others. Mike was a devoted volunteer with Triple G Outdoors, a Christian-based organization dedicated to giving children the opportunity to experience hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. The Triple G family held a special place in his heart and became part of his chosen family.

When Mike was not hunting or fishing, he could often be found woodworking, “tinkering” in his shop, or dreaming up his next project. He was a helper to anyone and everyone and was the kind of man people knew they could call when something needed to be done. He loved working with his hands, solving problems, and being available to help the people he cared about.

Above all, Mike was a loving Christian husband to his wife of 27 years, Janice King Holloway, and a devoted father to his daughter, Amber Holloway Rodgers. His faith and family were at the center of his life. He loved the Lord deeply and demonstrated that love through his devotion to his family, his service to others, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He also had a special love for his dogs, Leupold “Leo” and Steel “Booboo.”

Mike is survived by his wife, Janice King Holloway; his daughter, Amber Holloway Rodgers (Alex); his beloved dogs, Leo and Booboo; his Triple G family; and many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, James Mitchell Holloway.

Memorial services celebrating Mike’s life will be held at Belk Funeral Home, 229 West Broad Street, Darlington, South Carolina 29532, on Wednesday, September 30. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 5 p.m. A second memorial service will be held at Santee Bible Baptist Church, 9750 Old Number Six Hwy, Santee, SC 29142, on Saturday, October 3, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Triple G Outdoors, helping continue a mission that was dear to Mike’s heart: giving children the opportunity to experience the same love of hunting, fishing, and the outdoors that brought him so much joy throughout his life.
