John T. Durant

John Thomas DuRant, age 73, died Friday, March 17, 2017. A private graveside service with military honors will be held in Black Creek Cemetery, on Monday, March 20, 2017, directed by Belk Funeral Home. J.T. was born in Florence, son of the late Woodrow and Charlotte DuRant. He served in the United States Army and was Vietnam Veteran, receiving three bronze stars, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Rifle Sharpshooter medal. He retired from DuPont and enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Michelle DuRant and her fiancé, Shane Kaiser of Timmonsville, his son, John Travis DuRant of Chapel Hill, NC, grandchildren: Christian Crowley, Chapel Crowley and Riley Kaiser, his brother, Franklin (Gloria) DuRant of Darlington and his sister, Marie (James) Howle of Darlington .
