Joe Plummer

Sammie Joe Plummer, age 73 passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016. Visitation will be held by the family from 10-11am in the Fellowship Hall of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Lydia, SC on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016. The Funeral Service will proceed at 11am with burial following at the church cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home. Born January 23, 1943; Joe is the son of Sammie Louise Morrell Plummer and the late Woodrow Wilson "Dillie" Plummer. He retired from Sonoco Products Company after 41 years. Joe was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Surviving in addition to his mother, Sammie Louise Morrell Plummer are his wife, Amy P. Plummer; his daughter, Wendy (Jim) Elliott, all of Hartsville; his grandchildren, Joe Fisher Payne, Parker Payne, Abigail Payne, Terre (Robbie) Strickland, and Amber Saleeby. Also surviving are his siblings, George "Robin" (Patsy) Plummer of Timmonsville, Charlie T. (Linda) Plummer of Gastonia, NC, Linda (Bob) Stone of Vero Beach, FL, Polly (Danny) Mercer of Lamar, and Bill (Sylvia) Plummer of Hartsville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Plummer, and his daughter, Tammie Plummer Saleeby. Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 3087 Wesley Chapel Rd.
