Jo Ann Hawkins Alford

Jo Ann Hawkins Alford, age 60, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017. A graveside service will be held 11:00am Monday, January 16th at Mechanicsville Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Born July 2, 1956 in Sampson County, NC; Jo Ann is the daughter of the late Robie Marshall Hawkins and the late Lottie Mae Guinn Hawkins. She worked for Nytronics, S&E Cleaners, and most recently Chick-Fila in Florence. Jo Ann was also a volunteer at McLeod Hospice House in Florence. Jo Ann loved shopping, especially if she could find a good bargain; and she loved her animals, and her family. She was a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of 28 years, Rufus Alford; her sister, Mary (Jerry) Nietert of Arkansas and their children, Betsy Nietert and Abigail (Andy) Hamilton and their son, Henry; her special friend who was like a sister, Vickie Hatchell. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Susan Alford; her brother-in-law, Quinn (Paula) Alford and their children, Britt (Jacque) Baxley with their children, Payton and Zane; Bette (Anthony) Ceccoli with their daughter, Livi; and Dylan Alford; her two dogs, Pooh Bear and Susie, and her two cats, Abbie and Thomasina. She was preceded in death by several of her siblings. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Sunday, January 15th at Belk Funeral Home.
