James "Jimmy" Pierce Jeffords, Jr., age 93, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024. A graveside service for James will be held in Lamar Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday, November 20th at 4:00pm.
Jimmy was born in Lamar on July 29, 1931 to the late James Pierce Jeffords, Sr. and Nettie Guinn Jeffords. Jimmy served as a Merchant Marine for over 40 years and spent much of his time working on the Great Lakes. After his time in the service Jimmy returned back home to Lamar, you would often find him driving around town and going to the Piggly Wiggly. He was an avid Lamar Silver Foxes fan along with the Clemson Tigers, he always loved watching sports on TV. Jimmy was a lifetime member of Lamar First Baptist Church.
Surviving James are his nieces and nephews: Victor Mount, Jr., Teri Rickels Brown (Barry), Raymond F. Jeffords (Tonya), Tim Jeffords, Jimmy Rickels (Laura), Scott Jeffords, sister, Peggy Rickels, his sister-in-law, Lula Jane Jeffords and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Franklin Jeffords, Sr., his sister, Mary Alice Mount and his great nephew, Bryan Hunter Jeffords.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Carolina Pines and Morrell Nursing Center for the care they gave to James.
