Jim Conner

James "Jim" G. Conner, age 94, of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024. A visitation will be held at Belk Funeral Home on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a funeral service immediately following at noon in the chapel. Entombment will take place at Darlington Memory Gardens after the service.

Jim was born on October 12, 1930, in Morgantown, West Virginia, to the late Arthur M. Conner and Bessie Bradford Conner. He proudly served in the United States Air Force before embarking on a long career with ESAB, where he worked as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. Jim was a dedicated community member, having served in various civic activities, including a 32nd-degree Mason in Lake Shore Lodge #307 in Madison, Ohio, a member of the Valley of Charleston Scottish Rite, and a member of Omar Shrine Temple previously located in Florence. In his free time, Jim enjoyed all types of athletics, especially golf, and had a passion for woodworking. He was a proud fan of both West Virginia University and the University of South Carolina. Jim was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Jim is survived by his grandson, Brian (Elizabeth) Conner of Florence, and great-grandsons, Christopher Grayson Conner and Gerald Andrew Conner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Hoffman Conner; his son, Gerald Grayson Conner; his daughter-in-law, Deborah Conner; and his sisters, Lucy Whipkey, Mary Brooks, and Ruth Garland.

The family will be at the home, 2225 Eaton Circle, Florence.
