Jeffery C Kempson

Jeffery Clayton Kempson, age 55, died Sunday, May 27, 2018 in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 29 in the Lamar Chapel of Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home in Lamar on Monday, May 28. Born in Darlington, Jeff is the son of Jennie Lee Windham Kempson and the late Rembert Chaplin "R.C." Kempson. Due to a sports injury as a teenager, Jeff was confined to a wheelchair, however, that did not keep him from enjoying sports. He was a devoted fan of the USC Gamecocks and the Lamar Silver Foxes. He was an avid NASCAR fan , his favorite driver being Richard Petty; and has quite the Petty collection to prove it. Jeff was also a coach for Lamar Dixie Youth Baseball for many years. In addition to his mother, Jeff is survived by his brother and sister-and-law, Chip and Jeannie Kempson, his sister and brother-in-law, Timmie and Jimmy Bell, all of Lamar, nieces and nephews, Brad (Misty) Kempson, Carmen (Trey) Watson, April (Rod) Watford, Jason Bell, Brittany (Will Blackmon) Kempson, and many great nieces and great-nephews. Jeff had a special place in his heart for animals, and in honor of Jeff's love for animals, the family request that memorials be made to the Darlington County Humane Society Operations, PO Box 1655, Hartsville, SC 29550.
