Jean Watford

Jelean "Jean" Watford, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 in her home surrounded by family.   A funeral service will take place in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home Lamar at 10:00am on Saturday, November 23rd. A private family burial will follow in Mt. Elon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jean was born in Darlington County to the late Roland Watford and Marion O'Neal Watford on March 30, 1942. Jean worked for Leggs in Hartsville, she also worked at T&R Motors. She was a natural car saleswoman; she loved to sit on her porch and sell her cars. Jean always enjoyed listening to Dolly Parton and Elvis, shopping and most of all spending time with her family. She was a member of Mt. Elon Baptist Church at a young age and later attended  Elim Methodist Church.

Surviving Jean is her two sons, Robert (Cindy) McElveen and Danny (Tina) McElveen, her companion, William "Bill" McCoy, grandchildren, Terre (Robbie) Strickland, Hunter McElveen, Paige McElveen, Colton McElveen, Connor McElveen, great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Strickland and Holden McElveen. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Susan Watford.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Roland "R.S." Watford.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Crescent Hospice Staff and her caregivers, Akamie Lucas and Jordan McDonald.
