Jean Donald

Gladys Jean Donald, age 67 passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in McLeod Hospital in Florence. A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Friday, October 14th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home. A time to visit with the family will follow the service. Jean was the daughter of the late Raymond George Donald, Jr and Polly F. Donald. She attended Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina, and graduated from the University of South Carolina. She was a speech pathologist and worked with students at schools in several locations in South Carolina. Jean retired from the Greenville County School System in 2011. Jean had a fun-loving personality and made people laugh wherever she went. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, making pottery, and traveling. She was a member of the Kalmia Gardens Study Club, the Castalian Book Club, and several bridge clubs. Jean had a multitude of close friends who loved her dearly. Jean is survived by her sisters, Susan Conlan, Sarah Pope and her husband Gerald. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Kelli and Neil Hopkins, Ches and Chris Stepp, Martha and Jason Williams, and David and Daniel Conlan; her great-nieces and nephews, Catherine and Justin King, Christopher and Sarah Stepp, Anthony, Thomas, and Caroline Hopkins, Lane and Harper Williams, and her beloved dog, Kingston. Memorials may be made to a church or charity of one's choice.
