Jay Watford

Jay W. Watford, age 60, passed away on June 1, 2023. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 Monday, June 5 at Philadelphia Southern Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 on Sunday at Belk Funeral Home in Darlington and other times at his daughter's home, 5033 Oates Hwy, Timmonsville.

Born in Florence on December 7, 1962, he is the son of the late Jake and Juliet "Judy" Windham Watford. Mr. Watford served in the United States Navy.  Jay was an entrepreneur, owning and operating an array of businesses during his life. He enjoyed the good things in life; people, food, laughing ,his grandchildren: and  his love of music earned him the nickname, "Juke Box". He loved local, short track racing and travelling in his RV.

He is survived by his children, Ashley (Justin) Barnes of Lamar, Jaycie (Chris) Crook of Monroe, and Ben Watford of San Juan ; four grandchildren, Madison, Avery, Corbin and Gavin, his sister, Julie Stanley, and his loyal German Shepard, who often accompanied him for "rides in her car", Star.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Watford.
