Janie Miller Hancock

Darlington - Janie Watford Miller Hancock, age 89, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26st at Temple Free Will Baptist Church, with burial following in Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the church. Born December 2, 1927, Janie is the daughter of the late Alton Tyler Watford, and Lillian Kea Watford. She attended Darlington public schools and then worked for Dixie Cup for 33 years until her retirement in 1990. In 1945, she married the late George A. Miller until his death in 1978. In 1987, Janie married the late William P. Hancock. She was a member of Temple Free Will Baptist Church and was devoted to her God and to her Church. Janie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are her children, Donald (Kathy) Miller of Florence, Margaret (Charles) Cauble of Salisbury, NC, Carolyn (Greg) Lorimer of Boardman, OH, and Dwayne (Diane) Hancock of Darlington; her grandchildren, Gary, Brad, Angela, Robert, Greg, Wendy, Christopher, Jason, Travis; her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Gage, Reid, Kristian, Kaden, Andruw, Chloe, Maggie, and Chloe; her great-great-grandchildren, Lucy, Thomas, Cora, . Also surviving are her brother, Tyler E. Watford; her sisters, Velvelyn (Phillip) Strickland, Helen (Doug) Messerli, and June (Robert) Walling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George A. Miller; her second husband, William P. Hancock; her sons, George A. Miller, Jr., and Wayne Hancock; her daughters, Carol Hancock, Dianne Davis; and her sister, Idella Eagerton.
