Janice (Lane) Owens

Janice Owens, 76, passed away on April 23, 2025, in the McLeod Hospice House.

Janice was born on March 6, 1949 in Darlington, daughter of the late Craven Lee Lane Sr. and Sullie Weaver Lane. Janice worked in the office for Eastern Carolina Pediatrics for over 30 years. She was a devoted wife to her late husband and loving and devoted mother to her children. Her loving and nurturing nature made her the "caregiver" for many in her family which was a task she enjoyed immensely. She enjoyed going to the beach as well spending time reading a good book.  She was a faithful member of Florence Baptist Temple and loved her church family.

Janice is survived by her children, Rebecca "Becky" (Ricky) Shelton, Jon Owens Jr.,  Robert  David (Ryan) Owens; grandchildren: Andrew Taulbee, Madison Griggs, Faith Jordan, Xzavia Brown, Ricky Shelton Jr., Kingston Johnson, three great-grandchildren, sister, Susan (Rev. Charles) Trantham , and brother, Craven Lee (Dixie) Lane, Jr.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, Jon Blair Owens, and sister, Georgia Armstrong.

The service for Janice will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Florence Baptist Temple Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
