James Henry Watson

James "Jay" Henry Watson, age 72, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at his residence. Per Mr. Watson's wishes no services will be held.

Jay was born in Florence on December 8, 1951, he is the son of Barbara Blackmon Coe and the late Ben Wesley Watson. Jay worked at DuPont for 33 years until his retirement. Mr. Watson was member of Amity Lodge 340, a 50 year member of Shriners Hospitals for Children, and Past Director of Omar Provost Guard. Jay also devoted many years as a baseball coach and umpire. Jay loved the salty sea air of the beach and fishing with his sons. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Surviving James is his wife, Sandra Galloway Watson, his mother, Barbara Blackmon Coe, two sons, Brandon (Cheryl) Watson of Calabash, NC and Chris Watson of Florence, grandchildren, Asiah and Hannah, uncle, Robert Watson, and his aunts, Daphne Doane, Helen Gause, and Jean Williams. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Russell (Brenda) Galloway and sister-in-law, Chloris (Bruce) Woodham.

Jay is preceded in death by his father, Ben Wesley Watson.
