James Franklin Hatfield

James Franklin Hatfield, age 94, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024 at McLeod Hospice House surrounded by his family. A visitation for Mr. Hatfield will take place on Wednesday, July 10th in Belk Funeral Home from 2:00pm until 3:00pm, with a funeral service following at 3:00pm in the chapel. Burial will immediately follow the service in Darlington Memory Gardens.

James was born in Florence, SC on January 17, 1930, he is the son of the late Furman Eugene Hatfield and Lillian Goins Hatfield. James worked as a truck driver for many years with Standard Trucking and ARD Trucking. He was a very talented musician, James played numerous instruments with the guitar being his favorite. He showed off his musical talents by playing in multiple gigs when he was younger.

Surviving James are his three sons, Chuck (Marilyn) Hatfield of West Columbia, Billy (Chrystal) Hatfield of Hartsville, and Ernie (Barbara) Hatfield of Lugoff, grandchildren, Suzanne (Mark) Barhite, Melinda (Greg) Miller, Kristin Hatfield, Jay (Emily) Hatfield, Robert (Elise) Hatfield, Ashton Hatfield, step grandchildren, John, Steven, and Jason Broome, great grandchildren, Annabelle Miller, Drake Deal, Wyatt Oakley, Emma Oakley, Ella Grace Barhite, Savannah Hatfield, Grayson Hatfield, Opal Hatfield, Alban Hatfield, Karys Hatfield, Leo Hatfield.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife, Vonnie Hatfield and his brothers, Herman, Major, Dudley, Sid, and Lloyd Hatfield.
