Jack Eugene Cooper

Jackie Eugene "Silver" Cooper was born in Timmonsville, South Carolina on November 5, 1931. He passed away peacefully on September 6, 2022 at the age of 90. He is the son of the late Lewis Hobson Cooper and Ida Eugenia Pearce. He is survived by four children: Johnnie (Maria) Cooper of Effingham, SC, Brenda (David) Cooper of McDonough, GA, Jackie (Peg Kemp) Cooper of Rockville, MD, and Linda Cooper of Camden, SC. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Also surviving are his brother, Alan "Cat" Cooper of Florence, SC and his sister, Joyce Hodge, of Manning, SC.

At the age of 19, Mr. Cooper enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for four years. He served his country with honor as an Airman Basic in Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Cooper was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He owned and rode a BSA, Triumph, Kawasaki, and several Harley Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed riding late into his seventies. He also loved to work on and drive sports cars and instilled a love for them in his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Cooper was a Master Welder and Machinist. He worked for DuPont, Superior Machine Company, and Tucker Enterprises. He designed car carriers, horse trailers, and motorcycle trailers. He also worked as a self-employed welder, mechanic, and drove his own Kenworth 18- wheeler to transport cars. He was a hard worker who enjoyed life and loved his children and grand-children.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Florence National Cemetery.
