Irene "Dolly" (Howell) Smith

Irene "Dolly" Howell Smith, age 77, of Lamar, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 23rd in Lamar Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.

Dolly was born in Lamar, daughter of the late Rev. James Howell and Rozell Lloyd Howell.  Mrs. Smith had retired from Wellman in Darlington. She always had a positive attitude and enjoyed life and people. Before her health declined, she enjoyed sewing. Irene loved her grandchildren; and enjoyed the time she spent with them.

She is survived by her five sons: Rusty (Angie) Logan, Jack (Debbie) Smith, Joey Logan, all of Lamar, Randy "Pee Wee" (Renee) Smith of Lydia and Butch (Linda) Smith of Hartsville; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her brother, Willie "Bill" (Alice) Howell of Lamar, several nieces and nephews and a dear friend and caregiver, Anne Stevens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Smith, grandson, Hampton Logan, brothers Buddy and C.B. Howell and a sister, Rebecca Boshers.
