H.B. Tarte, Jr.

Henry B. "H.B." Tarte, Jr. age 96, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 26 in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home with burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy and the Florence Veteran's Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Born on June 19, 1924, H.B. was the son of the late Henry B. Tarte, Sr. and Julia Sims Tarte. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII; and was employed at James Rivers as an Electronic Technician until his retirement. H.B. also retired from the SC National Guard. He was a member of St. David's Masonic Lodge, Shriners Omar Temple, Moose Lodge, VFW and NCO Club. H.B. was a member of Central Baptist Church in Darlington.

Surviving are his son, H.B. "Toby" (Tammy) Tarte, IV of Elgin; grandchildren, Shawn B. (Brenda) Tarte, Isabel Tarte, Eric Tarte, Amber (James) Barfield, and Britney King; great-grandchildren, Josh, Abby and Hank Tarte.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Lee Tarte; his second wife, Betty Honney Tarte; sister, Margaret McLendon; brothers, James E. Tarte and Kenny Tarte; and a grandson, Donnie L. Tarte.
