Hazel Robert Warr

Hazel R. Warr, Jr., age 71 passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 after a long illness. A memorial service will be held 5:00pm Friday, August 26, 2016 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home. Born November 12, 1944, Mr. Warr is the son of the late Hazel Alexander Warr, Sr. and the late Le Clair Williams Warr. He graduated from St. John's High School in 1964; and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964-1968. He served on four Mediterranean cruises on the USS Shangri-La, and served a tour in Vietnam where he received a purple heart. Hazel then worked for NUCOR Steel until his retirement. He served as a Mason, a Shriner (Omar), and was a member of the Darlington Crazy Trikers. Hazel was a member of First Baptist Church of Darlington before he moved to Manning. He is survived by his wife, June Rose Warr; his daughters, Natasha (Gary) Pace of Greer, SC, Brandi (Michael) Martin of Denton, NC; his sons, Michael (Beverly) Phillips of Myrtle Beach, SC, Troy (Jane) Phillips of Hendersonville, NC, and Bennett (Robin) Phillips of Chimney Rock, NC; his grandchildren, Nikki Strickland, Austin Strickland, Kathleen Martin, Michael Martin, Jr, Valerie Martin, Robin Biggerstaff, John Michael Phillips, Graham Bennett, Kayla Phillips Adams, Garrett Phillips, Zoe Phillips, Maya Phillips, Ava Phillips; his great-grandchildren, Xander, Madison, Jillian Biggerstaff, and Rosie Phillips; and foster daughter, Beth (Henry) McGrew and Phoebe of Little River, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Wayne Warr. In lieu of flower donations, please send memorials to Shriners Children's Hospital in Greenville, 905 W. Faris Rd Greenville, SC 29605 or; Hazel personally requested blankets or bags of food to be donated to a local animal shelter.
