Harry Lee Sawyer, Jr.

Harry Lee Sawyer, Jr., age 84, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 13th from the times of 2:00pm until 3:00pm in Belk Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation in the chapel at 3:00pm, with burial immediately following in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Harry was born in Horry County on September 20, 1940 to the late Harry Lee Sawyer, Sr. and Etha Frye Sawyer. Harry graduated from St. John's High School and joined the National Guard as a Medic. He worked for Dixie Cup for many years and was also a fireman for the city of Darlington from February 1968 until his retirement in February of 1999 and served 33 years with the rescue squad. Harry had a servant's heart and always helped in his community.

Surviving Harry is his wife of over 60 years, Priscilla Marshall Sawyer, his two children, Teresa S. (Jeffrey) Blackwell and Johnny Lee Sawyer both of Darlington, his grandchildren, Stephanie, Austin, Tristin and Ashton Sawyer, great-grandchildren, Jasper, Aurora and Waylon. He is also survived by his two siblings, Dorothy Lee Sawyer of Darlington and Roger Sawyer of Florence.

In addition to his parents, Harry is preceded in death by his siblings, Angeline S. Gainey, Bobbie Jean Batchelor and Jeanette Edwards, along with his grandson, Chase Brent Sawyer.
