Harmon Ellis Parnell

Harmon Ellis Parnell, better known as H.E., passed away on Sunday April 21st, 2024, at the age of 82. A visitation will take place at Belk Funeral Home on Wednesday April 24th from 5 to 6 pm. A drop-in visitation will take place Sunday April 28th from 2 to 4 pm at Phil and Vanessa Parnell's home at 223 Barefoot Court in Sumter, SC 29150.

Harmon was born October 6th, 1941, to Horace and Ruth Parnell here in Darlington, SC. Harmon worked at various places including Nucor Steel, but ended up doing what he loved most and that was driving trucks. He loved raising all types of animals including chickens and his late beloved dog Sandy. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, spending time in the outdoors and the accompaniment of family.

He leaves behind his four children Harmon Ellis (Rhonda) Parnell, Jr., Phillip (Vanessa) Parnell of Sumter, Sara Ruth Parnell of Darlington, Amy (Leslie) Clifton of Darlington. His grandchildren Becca (Kevin Hill) Parnell, Candace (Billy Brasington) Wall, Lace Wall, Hannah Durant, Derrick (Becky Byrd) Blackmon, Will and Emily Johnson, Cody and Carlie Clifton along with ten great grandchildren with one on the way. With his siblings Annie Ruth (Joe) Griggs, Peggy (the late Gerald) Farmer, and sister-in-law Janice Parnell. Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Louise Suggs Parnell and brothers Warren and Latha Parnell.
