Grace Marilyn Delaney

April 2, 1928 — August 23, 2021

Grace Marilyn Delaney, 93, passed away at her home on Monday, August 23, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Freedom Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Born on April 2, 1928 in Horry County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Frasier "B.F." Harrelson and Naomi Hewitt Harrelson. Mrs. Delaney and her late husband, Thomas Delaney, operated and managed children's home for many years near Lancaster and Salisbury. Grace had a special love for children, and was a mother to many, not just her own. She had worked for Horry County Forestry Commission as an "observer" in a fire tower for ten years, where she developed a strong bond with nature and was able to enjoy the beautiful view from work every day.

She is survived by three children, Wanda Smallwood, Glen (Sherry) Lee and Johnathan "Rusty" (Patti) Lee, many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, and a sister Dorothy Jolley.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Martin.

The family would like to thank her caregivers for their care and love the past few months.

In honor of Grace's love for nature, you are encouraged to plant a pine tree or two or make a donation to McLeod Hospice, PO Box 100551, Florence SC 29501 www.mcleodfoundation.org
