George L. Hudson

George L. Hudson, age 84, went to be with his Heavenly Father Wednesday, July 6, 2016. Services will be held at Lamar First Baptist Church at 5:00PM Friday July 8th, with burial following at Lamar Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Andrews, 4128 Oates Hwy Lamar after the burial and at times prior to the services. Born September 22, 1931 George was the son of the late Luther and Inez Hudson. He grew up in the Quietude Community outside of Lamar. George was a dedicated member of Lamar First Baptist Church, having served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Sunday School Superintendent. He was musically talented and enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, organ, and piano at church. George was retired from the South Carolina National Guard and DuPont in Camden. Mr. Hudson was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Prior to his illness he enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, and watching The Gamecocks play football. Surviving are his beloved wife, Barbara Weaver Hudson of the home, a son, Bryan (Lisa) Hudson of Fort Valley, Georgia; a daughter, Stacia (David) Andrews of Lamar; Grandchildren: Holly Cummings, Jared Hudson, Kayla Hudson, Abby Yarborough, Luke Yarborough, Trey Andrews, and Raegan Andrews; Great - grandchild, Audrey Marie Hudson. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Memorials may be made to Lamar First Baptist Church, PO Box 431 Lamar, SC 29069.
