Gene Autry Odom, 84 of Darlington, SC, passed away peacefully November 25th surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held on Friday the 29th in Belk Funeral home from the times of 6pm until 8pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11am Saturday the 30th of November, with burial immediately following the service in Darlington Memory Gardens. The family will be receiving visitors at the home of Gene and Dorothy Odom, 929 W. Smith Ave of Darlington.
Gene was born to the late RG and Edith Odom in Darlington, SC. He has left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 63 years Dorothy (Dot) Odom. He will be lovingly remembered by his three sons, Marshall (Gwen) Odom, Michael and (Sharon) Odom and Matthew (Lynn) Odom. Also, his five grandchildren Heather (Eddie) Clark, Sean (Brooke) Odom, Brandon Odom, Abigail Odom and Zachary Odom. His five great grandchildren- Ansley Clark, Tristan Clark, Carson Odom, Evan Odom and Alaina Odom. Also, his other family members, dear friends and his beloved fur baby Belle.
Gene was predeceased by his parents RG (Edith) Odom, his sister Verna Malone and his brother McIver Odom.
He retired from La-Z-Boy after 34 years. He was a hard worker and loved to be outside on his tractor. You could find him plowing gardens, bush-hogging fields and prepping gourds for the Martin Birds he loved.

Special Thanks to Dr. Shaw and Dr. Hart and to all the nurses on the 7th Floor at McLeod's Hospital during Gene's stay. Also a special thanks to the Drs, Nurses and Techs at McLeod Hospice House. The care and thoughtfulness didn't go unnoticed, thank you all.
