Garris Mitchell Grooms

Garris Mitchell Grooms, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023 at his residence. A visitation will take place at Belk Funeral Home in Lamar Thursday, January 5th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. A graveside service will take place Friday, January 6th at 2:00pm in the Lamar Cemetery.

Garris was born on August 5, 1952 in Florence, SC. He is the son of the late Vernon L. Grooms and Lou Jean Grooms. Garris was a well respected mechanic and owner operator of Grooms Automotive and Tires. Mr. Grooms enjoyed cooking, fixing up his house and in his earlier years he enjoyed going fishing. Garris proudly served the United States of America in the Army National Guard.

Garris is survived by his children; Cammie Grooms, Chastity Cox, and Fairlynn (David) Bruce, grandchildren, Harley Cox and Kailey Bruce, a sister, Deborah Moore, and a special friend, Patricia Elliott.
