Fred Kirby

Fred Kirby, age 85, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House surrounded by his family. A graveside service for Mr. Kirby will be held in Riffe Family Cemetery 389 Press Walters Road Hartsville, SC 29550 at 11:00am on Monday, May 20th.

Fred was born in Darlington County on August 21, 1938, he is the son of the late Leland Kirby and Eva Mae Welch Kirby. Fred served in the National Guard. After leaving the service, Fred worked as a farmer most of his life and was also the Co-Owner and Operator of Dianne's Country Sausage. Mr. Kirby worked for the Forestry Commission and always enjoyed gardening, tending to his goats, and visiting livestock sales.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Brian) Riffe, granddaughter, Ashton Haynes, and his sister, Betty Sturkie.

In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Nivia Sturkie Kirby, daughter, Beverly Haynes, and his siblings, Marie Streett, Annie Ruth Snipes and Robert "Bob" Kirby.
