Francis Marion Cox

Francis "Hambone" Marion Cox, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, November 29th in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home at 4:00pm. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 3:00pm in Belk Funeral Home and other time at his daughter's, 301 Hoole Street, Darlington. (beginning at 5:00 on Friday)

Francis was born in Lake City on August 10, 1954, son of the late Francis Marion Cox III and Violet Marie Horne Walters. He enjoyed doing hands on work which led him to being a self-employed carpenter for many years. Hambone was an avid NASCAR fan, with his favorite driver being Kyle Bush. In his free time Hambone loved being out on the water fishing, listening to Elvis and playing poker and the lottery.

He is survived by his two daughters, Nikki Cox and Kasey Marie Cox (Stephen Travers), grandchildren, Jordynn McKenzie Travers, Ciara Michelle Timmons, Xavier "Zay" Thomas Timmons, and Kaylee Marie Travers. He is also survived by his nephew, Milton David "Pee Wee" Walter, Jr.

In addition to his parents, Francis is preceded in death by his brother, Milton David Walters, Sr.
